■特別講演
動物園にランドスケープを導入し、新機軸の展示を切り開いた提唱者　Jon Coe氏による特別講演をおこないます。

特別講演「10 Steps to Great naturalistic Exhibits」
通訳：原 光代（大阪芸術大学教授）

プロフィール：
Jon Coe received his Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Design in 1966 with honours. His thesis, Artificial Habitats for Captive Animals, began a lifelong and worldwide quest to collaborate in the design of enriching, sustainable and humane habits for people, plants and animals. In over 50 years Jon has produced more than two hundred ten planning and design projects for ninety-four zoos, aquariums, botanical gardens, theme parks, wildlife sanctuaries and national parks in thirteen nations on six continents. Believing strongly in the wide dissemination of knowledge, he also has published 63 professional papers (most downloadable from his website) and given numerous presentations, keynote lectures and training workshops in 30 different universities and professional conferences in the US, Canada, Mexico, Columbia, Brazil, Ghana, South Africa, UK, Afghanistan, India, Indonesia, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
After graduation Jon served as a US Peace Corps Volunteer serving in Bahia, Brazil 1066-69, was a Principal at Jones & Jones (Seattle, 1972-82), held the position of Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania (1983-87) and was a Founding Principal at CLRdesign in Philadelphia (1983-2003). In 2004 Jon relocated to the Melbourne, Australia area and established Jon Coe Design, Pty Ltd with his partner Susan Coe.
In recognition of his achievements Jon Coe was inducted as a Fellow by the American Society of Landscape Architects and was awarded the Bracken Prise by Pennsylvania State University.

特別講演（2019年度梗概集より）

■シンポジウム
「挑発としての展示」と題して、5名の話者が発表、ディスカッションをおこないます。

「挑発としての展示」
　日本展示学会では、展示とは意図を伝えることであるとしている。初代会長の梅棹忠夫は、さらにふ みこんで、展示とは挑発であると述べ、単に知識を伝える解説ではなく、展示を体験した人の心にひびき、 人々の考え方が変容するような刺激をもたらす触発作用である、という主旨の議論を行っている。挑発 は展示の意図を先鋭に研ぎ澄まし、すべての感覚を駆使して観客に訴えかけ、意図にそって観客の意識 の覚醒を図ることをめざす。観客はそうした意図のもとにつくられた空間や情報と向きあうことにより、 自らの考えが刷新される体験をする。そのためには、そこに展示に対する思想の存在することが前提に なる。そしてその思想の論理とそれを空間化し、デザイン化する技が求められる。展示に論理と芸術が 求められるのはこのためであろう。 実際にニューヨーク自然史博物館のジオラマ展示は、ニューヨーク近郊にあるペリカンの保護区の 設定に影響を及ぼし、都市住民の自然保護意識の覚醒にも大きな役割を演じてきた。展示学会が開設さ れてから、このような挑発力のある展示はみられてきたであろうか。そして、どのようにすればそのよ うな展示はできるのか。 本シンポジウムでは、展示の意図をいかにして発信するのかという挑発の精神や思想、そして意図を 具体化するデザインのあり方などについて、展示にとりくむ第一線のデザイナーや研究者らと共に議論 を行いたい。
